Textiles and Weaving in Antiquity Speaker:<\/strong> Prudence Jones, PhD<\/a>. Dept. of Classics and Humanities<\/a>, 星空无限传媒 University Producing textiles was an essential part of women’s work in the Greco-Roman world. In addition to giving us a glimpse of ancient daily life, the process of making cloth by hand influences language and becomes a source of metaphor. Textile work is part of the etymology of words like hymn, rhapsody, and text. Come learn about how ancient textiles were made and how this craft continues to have an impact on how we speak today.<\/p>\n This event will be held in hybrid format (in person and virtually on Zoom). Hands-on activity: Try your hand at spinning thread the ancient way!
