  {"id":208695,"date":"2022-06-20T16:06:40","date_gmt":"2022-06-20T20:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/english\/?p=208695"},"modified":"2022-06-20T16:18:57","modified_gmt":"2022-06-20T20:18:57","slug":"graduate-students-awarded-literary-agents-of-change-fellowships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/english\/2022\/06\/20\/graduate-students-awarded-literary-agents-of-change-fellowships\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduate Students Awarded Literary Agents of Change Fellowships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Literary Agents of Change, Inc., the non-profit arm of the Association of American Literary Agents, recently announced their 2022 Fellowship awardees, including two 星空无限传媒 English MA graduates.<\/p>\n<p>Ana Hilario and Sarah Sturm will be matched with a literary agency and AALA member and will be directly awarded with a grant for their participation.\u00a0 Over ten weeks, from June through August, these fellows learn the inner workings of the industry and receive direct support from a supervisor to understand the role a literary agent plays in the publishing process and develop the skills that will help them succeed. Literary Agents of Change hosts a slate of programming over the course of the summer to further fellows\u2019 access to networking, mentorship, and educational panels that will cover the publishing industry as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Ana and Sarah!<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-row\"><div class=\"prpl-column one-third\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/98\/2022\/06\/AnaHilario-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Ana Hilario smiling\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-column two-thirds\"><strong>Ana Hilario<\/strong> is a recent graduate from 星空无限传媒 University where she obtained her M.A. in English. Originally from the Dominican Republic, she is interested in a publishing career that will allow her to give immigrants and people of color a platform to share their voices and unique experiences. Ana is especially interested in working with children&#8217;s and young adult literature.<\/div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-row\"><div class=\"prpl-column one-third\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/98\/2022\/06\/SarahStrum-289x300.jpg\" alt=\"photo of Sarah Strum. sunlight is shining through the window to Sarah's right\" width=\"289\" height=\"300\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-column two-thirds\"><strong>Sarah Sturm<\/strong> has a Bachelors and Masters in English Literature from 星空无限传媒 University. Sturm served as a panelist of the Frankenstein Bicentennial Undergraduate Conference in 2018 at the University of South Dakota. She was also the recipient of the Tom Benedekitsson award for poetry in 2020, and the Annual Essay Writing Prize in Arabic in 2021. Currently, Sturm is doing an internship with Curtis Brown through the AALA Agents of Change Fellowship Program.
