The HR multi-step process is outlined on the HR website at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/human-resources\/talent\/hiring-a-faculty-member\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"external\">Hiring a Faculty Member.<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To take the course, contact <a href=\"mailto:smithsantosd@montclair.edu\">Dalilah Smith-Santos<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/@seninav@montclair.edu\">Vera Senina<\/a> to be added to the current course.<\/li>\n<li>Faculty who are serving on a faculty search must have completed this course, the Faculty Hiring Best Practices course, within the last three years. Faculty receive a certificate, but if you are unclear of when your certificate expires, contact Dalilah Smith-Santos in OFE.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class='inset lt-gray'>\n<p><strong>The course has been revised significantly in the Spring of 2025 to reflect changes in several institutional processes and external contexts. For this reason, the Office of the Provost has asked all members of search committees to take the course, including holders of current FHBP certificates who completed the course before June 2025.<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><\/strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/faculty-excellence\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/195\/2025\/09\/search_committee_member_education_memo.pdf\">MEMO FOR FACULTY SEARCH COMMITTEE MEMBERS <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>The course includes reference to tools (sample job ads, interview questions, strategies, rubrics) that are useful for faculty searches; they can be accessed through the course or directly through the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1HD-qPpeRHH388qzvvJ2Oz4nD3Oh9CGAj?usp=drive_link\">Open Access File Folder for Faculty Hiring Searches<\/a> (netID required).<\/li>\n<li>Faculty Search and Hiring from Call for Proposals to completion of the hire is explained in the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1touQ44g_I60HKLqQOIzIZDan4qVWTLgNIiwUGFc1fic\/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.q47cao453zhl\">Faculty Search and Hiring Guide<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Each summer OFE updates <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/12h0lfZTr4wfzEkW2SeFE3PB_cHLZzYttDgad4QOz8Ko\/edit?usp=sharing\">ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ University Student and Faculty Demographic Data<\/a> to provide search committees with up-to-date analyses of their department, college\/school, and university.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Note that this course is NOT the HR&#8217;s <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/human-resources\/search-committee-compliance-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Link\" class=\"inline_disabled\">Search Committee Compliance Training<\/a> course that members of all university search committees must have completed within one year of serving on a committee.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;padding-left: 80px\"><p><em>Last Modified: Thursday, October 2, 2025 12:42 pm<\/em><\/p> VS<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Faculty Hiring Best Practices The\u00a0Faculty Hiring Best Practices (FHBP) mini-course supports faculty involved in recruitment and search processes by providing a distillation of best practices in faculty recruiting.
