The enrollment deposit is NOT required to apply for the I-20.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Step 1: Thoroughly read information about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/how-to-apply-for-a-form-i-20\/\">how to apply for the I-20<\/a> and prepare your financial documents accordingly.<\/li>\n<li>Step 2: Complete the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/how-to-apply-for-a-form-i-20\/\">Application for I-20 and Affidavit of Support<\/a>&#8221; document.\n<ul>\n<li>DO NOT HANDWRITE-only the signatures can be handwritten (note: an electronic signature can be used in lieu of a \u201cwet\u201d signature). All other fields must be typed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Step 3: Access your admissions portal to upload the documents.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/apply.montclair.edu\/portal\/admissions\">Undergraduate student admissions portal<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/graduate.montclair.edu\/status\">Graduate student admissions portal<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Step 4: Upload documents to the corresponding checklist items:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Passport<\/strong>: upload a copy of the biographical page of your passport.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Financial Documents:<\/strong> combine all financial documents into one PDF. If you have received an assistantship or scholarship, please note the amount on the affidavit and upload financial documents showing sufficient funds to cover the remaining balance.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/how-to-apply\/forms-and-documents\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/how-to-apply-for-a-form-i-20\/\">Application for I-20 and Affidavit of Support<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/how-to-apply\/forms-and-documents\/\"><\/a>:<\/strong> combine all signed affidavits and the application into one PDF. If living off-campus for free with a friend or family member, upload the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/how-to-apply-for-a-form-i-20\/\">Affidavit of Free Room and Board form<\/a> and supporting documentation to this same checklist item as one PDF.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Carefully consider your financials before submitting-we will not accommodate requests for changes to the I-20 funding.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that you are uploading these three documents into the three separate checklist items with the corresponding names. If uploaded correctly, a green check-mark will appear next to each of the three items within 24 hours. If any red \u201cx\u2019s\u201d remain, there is a problem and you must re-submit the missing item(s).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Example of properly uploaded financial documents for I-20 purposes:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/116\/2023\/10\/Checklist-300x289.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"270\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Please allow at least 5-10 business days (business days are Monday through Friday) to review your application. If additional documentation is required, we will contact you via email. If your documents are approved, you will receive an email with instructions about how to download the I-20 from your application portal.<\/p>\n<p>Do <strong>NOT<\/strong> email documents to us and there is no need to email to confirm that the documents have been uploaded. Access your application portal to confirm proper upload.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Students who are already in the U.S. with an active F-1 status:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Submit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/how-to-apply-for-a-form-i-20\/\">Application for I-20 and Affidavit of Support<\/a>\u00a0and the required documents noted per the procedure above.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You must have the international student advisor at your current university <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">release your SEVIS record to us. <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please contact the international student advisor at your current institution for information about how to transfer your SEVIS record to 星空无限传媒 University as each university has a different internal process. Montclair does not have a &#8220;transfer-in&#8221; form or any documentation required on our end. You will most likely need to provide your current international advisor a copy of your 星空无限传媒 University acceptance letter which you can access in your application portal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Montclair\u2019s F-1 School Code is NEW214F01039000. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your I-20 will be issued after your current university releases your SEVIS record to 星空无限传媒 University.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UPON ISSUANCE OF THE I-20:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Please check the I-20 to ensure that there are no errors.<\/li>\n<li>Refer to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/current-students\/f-1-students\/understanding-your-i-20\">&#8220;Understanding your I-20&#8221; page<\/a> for information about what is and is not included on this document and frequently asked questions (example: the name of your major on the I-20 vs. your Montclair major).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"prpl-step\"><div class=\"prpl-step-number\"><span class=\"label-part\">Step<\/span> <span class=\"number-part\">3<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-step-content\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Let us Know You&apos;re Committing to 星空无限传媒 University<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>To reserve your place at 星空无限传媒 University, submit your deposit online by the deadline.*<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE: AN ENROLLMENT DEPOSIT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR I-20 ISSUANCE.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>After submission of the deposit, please allow 24-48 hours for your payment(s)\/confirmation to be processed.(Note that payment of the deposit via <a href=\"https:\/\/payment.paymytuition.com\/paynow\/mosu-deposit\">PayMyTuition <\/a>can take up to 7-10 business days for processing). Please follow the instructions and deadline noted on your letter of admission.<a href=\"https:\/\/secure.touchnet.net\/C27528_tsa\/web\/caslogin.jsp\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To reserve your place at Montclair, simply submit the graduate student enrollment deposit it the Next Steps tab of your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.montclair.edu\/portal\/gr_portal?tab=nextsteps\">admissions portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All students:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can pay the enrollment confirmation\/deposit via credit card (use the red link on the pages noted above) or via other options (including bank transfer\/wire transfer) using <a href=\"https:\/\/payment.paymytuition.com\/paynow\/mosu-deposit\">PayMyTuition<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Note: if paying the deposit via <a href=\"https:\/\/payment.paymytuition.com\/paynow\/mosu-deposit\">PayMyTuition<\/a>, you must use your CWID preceded by the letter &#8220;M&#8221;. Example: M12345678<\/li>\n<li>If you are planning to live on campus, you may also submit your housing application fee* at this time. Once your new student deposit and housing application fee are processed, you may complete the online <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/residence-life\/apply-for-housing\/?\">Housing Application<\/a>. Detailed information about the housing selection process will be sent to your Montclair email when available. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/residence-life\/apply-for-housing\/?\">Learn more about Housing Selection process!<\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\"><em><strong>*<\/strong>On-campus housing for the fall semester is guaranteed for students who have paid their housing application fee by May<\/em><em> 1. Housing for the fall semester is available on a first-come, first-served basis for those who pay their housing application fee after May 1. <\/em><em>Spring semester students interested in on-campus housing should submit the enrollment deposit and housing application fee as soon as possible after admission.<\/em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>International Enrollment Deposit and Refund Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The required enrollment deposit for all international students is $1,000.<\/strong> The deposit is credited toward payment of your first semester fees and is not an additional expense.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Deposits must be submitted no later than the dates noted above.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Enrollment deposits are non-refundable <strong>with three exceptions<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:<\/span><\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>The deposit is refundable if the student is denied a visa, provided that the student <strong>paid the SEVIS fee and applied for the visa using Montclair&#8217;s I-20.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The deposit is refundable if the student <strong>paid the SEVIS fee using Montclair&#8217;s I-20 but is unable to secure a visa appointment in time to arrive for the start of the term<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Students are from a country impacted by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/travel-updates\/\"> recent travel bans<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Important dates\/deadlines:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All students must request a refund of the enrollment deposit by the add\/drop deadline (approximately one week after the start of classes).\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Students denied a visa or impacted by travel bans:<\/strong>\u00a0May request a refund at any time, but no later than the add\/drop deadline for the semester they were admitted to.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Students unable to obtain a visa appointment:<\/strong> May request a refund within the time frames noted below:\n<ul>\n<li>Fall semester students: between August 1 and the add\/drop deadline (approximately one week after the start of classes)<\/li>\n<li>Spring semester students: between January 1 and the add\/drop deadline (approximately one week after the start of classes)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/116\/2026\/02\/International-Enrollment-Deposit-Refund-Procedure-2026.pdf\">International enrollment deposit refund policies and procedures<\/a> (click here for the steps to make the refund request)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Important:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Once the deposit is refunded,<strong> the admission and I-20 will be cancelled immediately<\/strong> and it will not be possible to obtain the visa using the same I-20. Additionally, <strong>graduate students who obtain the refund will be ineligible for postponement (deferral)<\/strong> and would need to submit a new application if interested in a future semester.<\/li>\n<li>Refunds will only be issued via the original payment method and to the same account used to make the deposit &#8211; <strong>no exceptions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>QUESTIONS?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Questions about your deposit or confirming your spot? As part of activating your NetID, you\u2019ll have to confirm your identity through a challenge question. <strong>As a new student, you must choose the \u201cCWID\u201d challenge question.<\/strong> Your NetID cannot be activated until your enrollment deposit has been processed.<\/p>\n<p>After you activate your NetID, use your NetID and newly established password to access\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nest.montclair.edu\/\">nest.montclair.edu<\/a>, your Gmail, and other University systems. If possible, you may want to attend a pre-departure orientation program organized by the center.
