{"id":9623,"date":"2012-03-31T10:37:40","date_gmt":"2012-03-31T14:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/news\/article.php?ArticleID=9623"},"modified":"2012-03-31T10:37:40","modified_gmt":"2012-03-31T14:37:40","slug":"9623_-165-attend-philosophy-in-the-schools-day-for-secondary-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/institute-for-the-humanities\/2012\/03\/31\/9623_-165-attend-philosophy-in-the-schools-day-for-secondary-students\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;165 Attend Philosophy in the Schools Day for Secondary Students&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>Students and teachers from 16 New Jersey high schools, ranging from the nearby Montclair Kimberly Academy to Southern Regional in Manahawkin, came to campus Friday, February 10th to take part in our first-ever Philosophy in the Schools Day. &nbsp;This year, the Institute for the Humanities teamed up with the Department of Philosophy and Religion to offer a new program, &quot;The Examined Life.&quot; &nbsp;It featured Logic and Ethics as areas of inquiry that allow us to approach Socrates\u2019 ideal of the \u201cexamined life,\u201d not only to expand students&#8217; intellectual and moral capacities, but also to enhance and add &nbsp;meaning to life. &nbsp;Drs. David Benfield and Kirk McDermid led the Logic sessions. &nbsp;Drs.
