Most scholarships in the Department are determined by a committee. Some scholarships are primarily based on merit, and others on a combination of merit and financial need. If you would like to be considered for our need-based scholarships, please fill out the Mathematics General Scholarship Application<\/a>. Submitting this one application will allow you to be considered for all relevant awards.<\/p>\n

Undergraduate<\/h2>\n

Mathematics Department Scholarship<\/dt>\n
Amount:<\/strong>\u00a0Varies; Frequency Varies<\/dd>\n
Criteria:<\/strong> An award to assist mathematics majors in general. This award is nominated by the scholarship committee with input from the department faculty, especially the department chair.<\/dd>\n
NSF Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program<\/dt>\n
Amount:<\/strong>\u00a0$13,000 scholarship and a $660 stipend each year for two years<\/dd>\n
Criteria:<\/strong>\u00a0Undergraduate students enrolled in the program leading to a Mathematics degree with K-6 teacher certification (MAEL)
\nJuniors and Seniors admitted to the Teacher Ed. Program must have a 3.0 overall GPA, 2.75 mathematics GPA<\/dd>\n

Audrey Vincentz Leef Scholarship<\/dt>\n
Amount:<\/strong>\u00a0Varies<\/dd>\n
Criteria:<\/strong> An award to assist full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate students, or to EOF students who plan on studying mathematics. The recipient must take at least one math course during the semester the scholarship is awarded and show evidence of financial need. This award is nominated by the scholarship committee with input from the department faculty.<\/dd>\n
John C. Stone Scholarship<\/dt>\n
Amount:<\/strong>\u00a0Varies<\/dd>\n
Criteria:<\/strong> An award to assist undergraduate mathematics majors who have completed at least 64 total credits with at least 32 having been completed at MSU by Fall semester following the award. Recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.45 and minimum major GPA of 3.5. This award is nominated by the scholarship committee with input from the department faculty.<\/dd>\n
Noyce at Montclair Mathematics Scholarship<\/a><\/dt>\n
Amount:<\/strong>\u00a0Two years of tuition and a small stipend<\/dd>\n
Criteria: <\/strong>Undergraduate students enrolled in the program leading to a\u00a0Mathematics degree with K-6 teacher certification (MAEL)<\/a>.\u00a0Juniors and Seniors admitted to the Teacher Ed. Program must have a 3.0 overall GPA, 2.75 mathematics GPA<\/dd>\n
Eligible applicants should apply at the same time that they apply to the Teacher Ed. program.<\/dd>\n

Criteria:<\/strong>\u00a0Awards are for exceptional doctoral students enrolled in full-time studies<\/dd>\n
